The Herbert K. Goodkind collection, 1808-1991.

The H.K. Goodkind Collection, one of the most comprehensive collections of materials on violin construction, violin iconography, and the history of the violin, consists of materials gathered by Herbert K. Goodkind to support his research on Stradivari violins and violin iconography. Cataloged separately are more than 1,200 book, score, and serial titles. The remainder of the collection includes a large auction and musical instrument dealer catalog collection; the papers of Herbert K. Goodkind; the papers of Edward W. Abell (1864-1957), early 20th-century violin historian; and a vertical file containing journal and newspaper article clippings. Non-textual materials include miscellaneous photographs, reproductions of paintings, and paintings.
